My husband and I plan to start trying for a baby in 10 months when our mortgage is paid off.
For the next 5 months I am going to Collgege to finish my degree. I graduate this December.
After that I have 4 months to kill before we try for a baby. What can I do to kill time?
I was thinking of scrapbooking, working out, maybe joining a mini bowling league, taking a free art class.
I need ideas to kill time and keep my mind off of being a mommy.
Its killing me!
How about you pick a room of in your house, and start planning for a nursery, pick colors, designs, what kind of crib you want, the toys you want to have, and etc. Once things are planned out, then you might want to look into painting the room yourself and doing every project in that room by hand.
Maybe even start a pre-scrap book, saving pages and stuff for pictures of your future pregnancy and etc. Maybe even a pre-baby scrap book.
Another thing you can do, is start taking a yoga class, this will make you healthy and flexible before your pregnancy, so that during your pregnancy you will feel healthier, and maybe even make the delivery process easier.
Another thing you can do is clean out the junk that maybe piled up in your garage, clean up the house, maybe even start a mini herb garden or something, this way the need to nurture something is met.
Another thing you can try is taking some cooking classes, art classes, or join a book club or you can go to a local community college and take a course in a subject that you were interested in but never had a chance to take while finishing your degree, such a philosophy, history, music appreciation and etc.
Another thing you can do is learn how to knit or crochet since, many women tend to love making baby booties/socks and hats and stuff.
Maybe even find something that you are interested in and turn that hobby into a mini business.
I asked for scrapbooking things for Christmas..yes, I know it's JUNE! LOL I received some paper, stickers, a baby bok kit and a nice printer to print out pictures from my camera. I'm a bit overwhelmed!! How do I start??? What kind of cutting things do I need? I really want to start, but I have no idea how to do it. =)
There are a ton of websites that can help you out with this. There are a few basic supplies that you will need:
Album and sheet protectors
Scissors or paper trimmer – you can get by with just a good pair of scissors but it is much much easier with a trimmer. You can get a decent one for 10.00 at walmart
Adhesive – you can use a basic glue stick, but invest a couple dollars in a scrapbook adhesive (walmart again) and you will be happier.
A good pen or computer fonts to do your journaling.
The main thing to remember is that you are doing this for yourself/children, not to impress everyone with your pages. That is great, but don't stress yourself with it. Just have fun.
If you are looking for basics, find a creative memories class, you don't have to buy anything. Also try looking for ideas at www.scrapjazz.com or www.splitcoaststampers.com Good luck, you will love this great, but addicting hobby!
Instead of a regular baby book I'm scrapbooking one for my baby. I need some ideas on what info I need to put in it. What do store bought baby books have in them as far as filling in the blank type questions. Or just any neat ideas would be helpful.
When you purchase scrapbook items remember that the packaging is also safe to use in scrapbooks, acid free etc. So, keep the bubbled out containers like when you buy clips or other bulky 3-D items, you can re-use them by putting bulky items inside of them, like baby's diaper pin or a lock of hair or sock, place the plastic cover over it and viola, you have an instant 3-D pop up on your page…be careful to choose those containers that are shallow…you can cover the edges with edging or rafia or ribbon or cut a frame out of card stock. I've used this technique to display small shells, pebbles and even a small race car…good luck!
