Perhaps the most rewarding type of scrapbook you can make is one that you intend to give as a gift. Scrapbooks make special gifts for almost every occasion, because there handmade touches show that you care about the person. When someone receives your scrapbook as a gift, he or she may be inspired to create a scrapbook as well, and in this way you can spread the scrapbooking bug to friends and family members.

There are many different types of scrapbooks you can make for the recipient. One of my favorite types of themes makes a good gift for a graduate or someone moving away-use pictures from throughout the years of the person growing up and end with a recent picture and some blank pages so the album an be continued. Pages made as a continuation make good future gifts as well. This is also a good idea for couples celebrating their wedding or anniversary. Instead of just having a traditional wedding album, include pictures of both people from before they met and then create pages of their life together.

Can you buy individual rub-on scrapbooking letters?

I saw an idea in a magazine about making a unique napkin holder for your wedding reception by rubbing a monogram letter onto a smooth stone, and I'd like to try it, but I can only seem to find rub on letters in books of the whole alphabet, and i just want ~150 letter Ks and don't want to have to buy 15 books… anyone seen somewhere that sells this? Thanks!

Try Michael's or Jo Ann Fabrics. They have a wide assortment of crafting, and scrapbooking supplies. They also sell individual letters, without having to purchase the entire alphabet. Be blessed.

Scrapbook as a wedding gift, and obtaining photos?

I was thinking of making a scrapbook as a wedding gift to her and her fiancee. However, I have almost no pictures of either of them since I'm really not a shutterbug. I will be one of her bridesmaids…would it be against etiquette or is it ok for me to ask the bride and groom's families for pictures of both of them while they were younger (through the years kind of thing…), as well as friends? Keep in mind that I haven't met their families. I love to personalize things, which is why I wanted to try my hand at scrapbooking.

It's ok to ask the family about photos – you can also ask the other bridesmaids and friends for photos, too.

Don't be totally surprised if the families aren't really forthcoming with photos, though. Some people just aren't organized enough to find photos when you will need them by.

Some other folks aren't really trustful about giving people they don't know very well family photos – they may be worried about the only copy of a photo getting lost. You should offer to have them reprinted so that you will have a copy and you can return the original photos to the family members (or friends). Any photo developing place can scan the originals into a computer and print out really excellant copies for you. That way you can cut the photos and play around with them as much as you want, too. And if you have the photo place put the photos on a disc you can always have another copy reprinted if you cut one and decide later that you don't like the crop. Of course, if you have a good printer/scanner at home you can do all this yourself.

where can I get tiny scrapbooking pearls?

I want little pearls to put on my wedding thank you cards any ideas? I saw the ones with the 6 different sizes but I need a lot of pearls.
Thank you for your suggestions, I ended up getting glue and sparkles for those spots instead. It was too expensive for the pears, I am on a REALLY tight budget for the wedding!

Can anyone recommend a printer to use for scrapbooking that prints photos and 12X12 sheets?

This is for home use so I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars. I will also be using it to print wedding invitations. I am not concerned with print speed.

You're looking at an A3 model of printer that can do 11×17" at least, really to do 12" you're looking at an oversize A3 or wide carriage so you ARE looking at a lot of money, these are specialised machines, not household devices.

Making wedding programs have the layout but need pattern on both sides of paper?

We are using both front and back and need a paper that has a design on both sides. Any ideas where to look i have gone to all our scrapbooking and paper places in our area? Need help it is a chapel fold style wedding program.

get the precut ones from office max or staples or michaels. you just stick em in your printer and use the template provided. I made 100 programs in about an hour.

Wedding/love quotes or lyrics for a scrapbook?

I am making a scrap book for my sister-in-law of her and my brother's wedding last summer. I love scrapbooking so I usually go all out with the little embellishments and what not. But I'm looking for some wedding/love quotes or song lyrics to add to some of the pages that are not religous ones. I'm always looking for other scrapbooking ideas too!

They have hundreds and hundreds of embellishments, and their prices are so cheap, you have to see them to believe them! They do have quite a few "wedding" embellishments, as well as things like music notes and song lyric paper.
Oriental Trading does have a big selection of religious material, so just watch for those.
